New kitchen for St Michael’s Centre Bishop’s Cleeve

To replace the existing dilapidated, domestic style kitchen with a commercial one, enabling us to prepare and cook food on the premises. As a consequence we could cater for more people at any one time and deliver more community events. Food is currently prepared in volunteers’ homes which is highly inefficient and prevents us having a Food Hygiene Rating of 5. We could attract younger volunteers (under 40) by involving them in evening bulk bakes – so a social occasion as well. Our initiative taking meals out to those in need in the community could be increased by bulk cooking and our lunch club for the normally housebound elderly could feed twice as many people and double the frequency of delivery. We could also widen the types of events that the community could use the hall for example it would be suitable for day long conferences and holiday clubs. Our kitchen designers, ‘Space’, operate the Green Footprint Initiative introducing environmentally friendly equipment helping to improve resource efficiency.
