New Life for Chalk Grassland in Wiltshire

A three year project that will engage with 49 SSSI with chalk grassland components to a) Provide best practice management services b) Create and enhance the 24,000ha of Chalk Grasslands The project aims to:- Help conserve 16 UK BAP species and a further 17 local BAP species. Recreate 250ha of chalk grassland Restore 25% of all semi-improved /degraded chalk grassland Establish exemplar sites within a series of interconnected chalk downlands, coombes and valleys Develop a farming enterprise at Combe Bissett Down Nature Reserve Secure favourable management of all sites suporting priority species.
