Newcastle RUFC Clubhouse, Newcastle under Lyme – Refurbishment (40274/D)

The project aim is for fully modernising the timber framed clubhouse to create a vibrant, modern and accessible sports pavilion. Erected in 1961 having been purchased from the Royal Ordnance factory at Swynnerton where it was used as a munitions assembly room during the 2nd World War, it now requires complete modernisation to make it more energy efficient, accessible & multi-functional. It will include: providing a modern community café, creating 2 multi-functional spaces with improved accessibility and capacity for a range of different activities, improving the main entrance/foyer area to provide a focal point to attract new users/participants (with outdoor seating/viewing area and club shop), extending the building to incorporate an equipment store and replacing exterior cladding and fully insulating the building. The Club is in open parkland with no other facilities locally will provide greater opportunity for community use and benefit. The Trust grant will contribute towards main contractor building works
