Newport-on-Tay Fountain Restoration Project

To restore the Newport Canopied Drinking Fountain which dates from 1882, a historic B listed structure which has become an iconic symbol for the local community. The fountain stands at the top of The Braes, the name given to a part of the foreshore of the River Tay, which is a public amenity area with pedestrian access from Tay Street, the main route into Newport from the direction of the Tay Road Bridge. The restoration project will involve the removal, refurbishment and re-installation of the fountain canopy, the fountain, the railings and plinth band by a specialist foundry and restoration engineering company and the renewal of the associated stonework.
