NEWTS: North Kirklees Schools and Community Greenspace

Within an urgan ‘green lung’, establish an independent community room – promoting practical themes of recycling, the environment and wildlife. The combined amenity will become a 5 hectare demonstration, activity and best practise centre servicing the sustainable development needs of North Kirklees. It will be readily accessible, notably by a multi-user accessway (Spen Valley Greenway) which runs through the site. Users will be drawn from 47 settlements comprising 5 towns within a 3 mile radius, including 75 schools (age 3-16). The site will associate with a major nearby visitor attraction (Oakwell Hall) and be home to a scrapstore and several diverse community groups
