North Farm Residents Community Association

The Association was established in 2001 to tackle problems on the North Farm Estate which was run down, neglected and had become an undesirable place to live. Problems included drug and alcohol abuse, thefts, litter, dumping, abandoned cars and youth and adult anti-social behaviour. The Assocition has undertaken several projects improving the area, increasing community spirit and raising morale, including being entered for Northumberland in Bloom.
The association is requesting funding towards the cost of designing, commissioning and erecting a bronze statue of a coal miner and pit pony in their memorial garden (which was set up in 2003), as a celebration of all the men who worked down the mines in the Blyth area. The garden was created and is maintained by local children and is situated adjacent to a very busy footpath used by local residents and is the only route the children can take to walk to school. As well as being a beautiful spot, it is also a focal point for socialising in the community.
