North Fife Community Orchards

Orchards are part of a local food production cultural tradition dating back some 700 years in North Fife. Orchards also score highly in terms of biodiversity and will be included as a target habitat in the next Fife LBAP.
01.04.09FCCT Ranger Service will plant 140 organically grown fruit trees of Scottish provenance at 5 community sites across North Fife with the assistance of volunteers from local communities. All trees will be planted at high-profile sites with unrestricted access.
These newly established orchards will raise public awareness, compliment existing orchards and serve as a resource for education, biodiversity and future small scale development projects centred around orchards and fruit production.
Orchards will be managed by volunteer groups under supervision of FCCT Ranger service.
