Projects / North & South Transept roof repairs.

North & South Transept roof repairs.

The north transept tiles have slipped en masse in an area half way up the west slope. This is an indication of nail sickness. It is essential that this slope is stripped and re tiled. There are open joints in the stonework at high level on the gable, which should be addressed. The copings also have open joints and rainwater gutters are rusted in places. There are indications of impending failure on the south transept. The complicated roof slopes and junctions at the north-east corner of the church are difficult to maintain, water is finding its way into the interior, flashings and soakers need to be renewed to prevent further internal damage.
