Oak Street Natural Play

The aim of the project is to provide a new play area on an area of urban green space near to Wolverhampton City Centre. The project is supported by Wolverhampton City Council as part of its government funded Fair Play Pathfinder initiative. This initiative seeks to develop play areas using the concept of Natural Play, which provides innovative and stimulating play experiences for children. Young people will be involved at all stages fo the project development.
The natural elements in play give children freedom to explore their own abilities whilst interacting with other children and the natural environment.
As part of the development of the project, local community groups and schools will be engaged to make sure their opinions are taken into account when design of the site is finalised.
The natural element of the play experience will encourage young people to have a greater awareness and understanding of their environment and the issues of sustainabilty.
