Oasis Community Self Build Project

Oasis staff and volunteers have successfully rescued a pioneering bolt together Walter Segal building which was the former office of innovative social enterprise Coin Street Community Builders based on London’s Southbank. The original building, erected in 1989 was otherwise destined for landfill. With the help of over 60 volunteers the building was dismantled in 2 weeks and moved to its new home at Oasis Adventure Playground in Stockwell, SW8. This project will see the building remodeled and rebuilt at Oasis. It will provide desperately needed indoor playspace, office and meeting space for the organization and the whole community. This project is driven by the local community and will enable Oasis to continue to help improve the lives and well being of some of Lambeth’s most disadvantaged families. This project has fantastic green credentials, 90% of the materials are being reused from the former CSCB office. We started the initial reconstruction of the building in June 2011 and aim to finish in March 2012.
