The project aims to refurbish and rehabilitate a site that has been derelict for more than 30 years. The site has attracted illegal dumping and vermin, becoming a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

The project will create an attractive, accessible and sustainable open park for the enjoyment of local residents, visitors and children. In addition to creating and engaging open park, a timber crib wall will allow for central seating area, featuring an inlaid compass motif to celebrate local nautical history. Naturalised bulb and informal shrub planting will provide year round interest and benefit wildlife. Also wheelchair access in the form of ramps and seating will be incorporated in the project, allowing disabled users, wheelchairs and childrens pushchairs onto the re-modelled site
