Orford Ness – Securing a Sustainable Future for Wildlife

This 2 year project aims to sustain and enhance 200ha of Coastal and Floodplain Grazing Marsh at Orford Ness National Nature Reserve in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Work will focus on maintaining the water management infrastructure to ensure that the habitat remains in favourable condition for the many species that depend on it. Enriching Nature funding is being sought to enable an analysis of existing structures and topography leading to the production of a water level management plan, installation of new water control infrastructures (wind pumps, evacuation pumps etc) and the creation and management of new water ditches. The work will be coordinated by a Project Manager to be employed by The National Trust.
