Osprey camera at Rutland Water Nature Reserve

To install a camera on the nest of a pair of breeding Ospreys at a lagoon at Rutland Water. This will enhance public interpretation work through close up images of these rare birds, and offer a unique insight into Osprey breeding ecology. Live images will be displayed in the Reserves two visitor centres, and also on the projects website (over 1000 hits per day during peak periods). The visitor centres are both fully accessible for disabled people (including Braille and hearing loop) and so will facilitate viewing for those not able to go out onto the Reserve due to mobility problems. The camera will also act as a deterrant to egg thieves.
