Our Coppice For LNR

The aim is to improve the biodiversity of an area of around 10.7 hectares of existing coniferous and mixed plantation woodland through selective thinning. The removal of coniferous trees would be favoured to encourage the establishment of broadleaved trees. Some replanting would also be undertaken with native broadleaved trees, especially oak trees. Further enhancements will be made to the woodland with the siting of bird and bat nesting boxes within the area and the sowing of a suitable wildflower seed mix. Access improvements are also proposed into the woodland along with the siting of benches and interpretation signage.
