Outdoor Learning Space, Cuerden Valley Park

We passionately believe that we need this generation of children and adults to connect with nature if they are going to protect it and what better way than to be immersed in it, learn from it and within it. The current pandemic crisis has taught us that time outdoors connecting with nature is vital to the mental health and overall wellbring of children and adults, it can transport us from our problems and provide us with an escape. The project is to build an outdoor learning space area in a nature reserve area. This allows a dry area around a central point to act as a learning space, which whilst covered still allows the connection with nature, you can hear the birds and feel the wind which allows for a mindful experience The learning space would not only be used for formal education but also for community events giving local people an opportunity to engage with nature through organised woodland craft events or an outdoor yoga class. It would also be available for uniform groups and community groups.
