Parc Slip Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre Education Facility

To provide an education facility suitable for all age groups and abilities. This would enable the study of a varied selection of species. The animal species would range from microscopic freshwater invertebrates to larger reptiles, amphibians, bird life and mammals. The study of fungi and plant life would also be a key aim, with particular focus on bryophytes; an area where there is currently a worrying lack of expertise.
We would like to provide workstations, within our Discovery Room comprising of desks, digital microscopes, web-linked computers and monitors. The Discovery Room has recently been fitted with a lift enabling full disabled access. The digital microscopes selected would be suitable to take out onto the reserve and used with a laptop for field studies. The facility would be used regularly by school, university and community groups to inspire the next generation of ecologists and conservationists.
