Parr Mount Fun and Friendship Project, Parr Mount Over 50’s Club, Fingerpost, St Helens

Parr Mount Over 50’s Club is a community group run by volunteers with the aim of improving the health and well-being of over 50’s in the area. It is located in Parr Mount Court, a sheltered accommodation scheme, situated in Fingerpost, in the heart of one of the UK’s most deprived areas. The scheme has a communal garden which this project is seeking to develop, plus a number of other elements all aimed at local over 50’s. The project entails 1)The construction of three raised beds for plants, vegetables and herbs (including plants, compost, bulbs and two training days); (2)Purchase of disabled/gardening tools; (3) Purchase of a commercial food warmer (to enable the lunch club to extended to cater for larger numbers); (4) Purchase of garden furniture; (5) Indoor Bowling Handling Unit; (6) Lockable storage cupboard; (7) IT Project – to build on funds already contributed for an IT introductory course for the over 50’s. Pupils from the local school (St Cuthbert’s) will assist in delivering training.
