Parwich memorial Hall – PV Solar Panels & Battery Storage

The new Memorial Hall was completed in 2010 and at the time, an innovative ground source heat pump system was installed for heating and hot water. This system has proven to be costly to run and maintain and has been very unreliable. Over the last two years, in excess of £10,000 of the Memorial Hall’s reserves have been spent on attempts to repair the system, but these have been to no avail and a number of specialist engineers have confirmed that it is sadly, now beyond repair.
During the winter months, attempts to keep the hall warm enough for use has resulted in high rental costs for suitable portable heaters, but despite this effort, the regular hall users have sought alternative, warmer venues. This is a threat to the long-term viability of the hall, so once the system is fixed, a robust marketing activity will be established to bring users back to this fabulous venue. Currently, the hall is without heating or hot water for the kitchen and toilets, which seriously compromises the use of the building until a new solution is put in place. This will have a dramatic impact on the community and on all the activities that would normally happen there. Therefore, a two-phased project is underway to raise funds for:-
Phase 1 – Provide alternative heating and hot water solutions
Phase 2 – Install photo-voltaic solar panels with battery storage to offset the energy costs of the Memorial Hall and reduce the carbon footprint.
This application only concerns phase 2. Funding for phase 1 is secured from elsewhere.
