Paths for the Future: Improving Access at Magor Marsh

Magor Marsh Nature Reserve, on the Gwent Levels, is Gwent Wildlife Trust’s oldest nature reserve. It is an open access site, receiving thousands of visitors and school children each year.

This project will facilitate safe and wildlife-sensitive access for future users through:

1. Upgrading and conversion of 130m of old boardwalk to high-spec stone path
2. Upgrading and replacement of safety handrails around the Derek Upton Centre
3. Upgrading and infilling of eroded ‘pinch-points’ around a number of kissing gates
4. Chipping of willow scrub and use of such to resurface Forest School circles

The site’s volunteer group (‘The Gwent Levellers’) will undertake all works, with GWT staff input and supervision.
