Pathways for People

In conjunction with the community Allerdale Borough Council would like to improve the facilities within the park for recreational and sporting use by the community. They have already imrpoved the play facilities and bowling club with help from the local community and would now like to focus on the athletic activites within the park.Currently the paths in Vulcan Park are suitable for walking on but not running on due to a number of issues, including loose sections of path which despite getting fixed crumble after each cold spell. They are also difficult for people with mobility problems to navigate. Due to a high demand from the community for outdoor exercise areas we would like to replace the existing paths in the QEII section of the park with a track suitable for running, installing markers along the track so that park users can carry out a 1km run or cycle within the park.
