Peascroft Wood, Bilston – Improvements to habitats and access

Project Aims:
– Management of neglected woodland to improve the health of the remaining trees, the structure of the woodland and the species diversity of trees, flora, insects and other wildlife.
– Management of non-native plant species.
– Improved access to the site through scraping and re-surfacing one of the main paths through the site, which is in bad condition.
– Replacement of rotting steps on a second path, for access to a quieter part of the site.
– Management of the meadow on site – removal of encroaching bramble and other non-meadow plants and monitoring the effect of these works through meadow plant surveys.
– Involvement of local people and training of volunteers and members of the fledgling Friends group.
