Pegswood Moor Park- pathway and habitat improvements

The project involves improvements to Pegswood Moor Community Park to enhance community access, involvement and enjoyment, protecting the site infrastructure from degradation and benefiting wildlife and biodiversity. The Park is made up of three closely connected sites (Phases 1, 2, & 3) totalling 41.4 hectares set on the site of a previous surface coal mine. The park comprises a range of habitats with an abundance of flora & fauna: there are areas of immature woodland, ancient woodland, meadow areas, a lake, nutrient poor wildflower areas, wild scrub areas, pond/scrape areas and hedgerows. Spread across the three sites is a network of paths for the enjoyment of site users. Most of these paths are established, lined paths, but some are also informal. The park has public access and is located just north of Morpeth in Northumberland.
