Pellon Public Playground

The Pellon area of Halifax has a strong sense of community yet is blighted by unruly groups and is a hotspot for vandalism, anti- social behaviour and vehicle crime. The local community centre (which also houses one of the largest not for profit nursery groups in Calderdale) was saved from closure following a public outcry in 2006. It is proposing to create a family- oriented public playground in its grounds (a former school yard) which with stunning views, will also provide a haven for refreshment and relaxation. To avoid the inevitable mindless vandalism, the playground will be accessible to families, groups and the like on a monitored basis.
