Pembroke Millponds

An educational programme for schools & members of the public to include walks, talks & outdoor classrooms. The programme will be based around the ecology & unique habitat/s of the millpond complex, the flora & fauna found there, the geomorphological & hydrogeological characteristics of the catchment area, the significance of the LNR status, the history of the ponds & archaeological features etc. The programme will be designed to raise the profile of the site & to encourage appreciation of its qualities. The programme will be greatly enhanced by the installation of a wildlife camera network to enable observation & monitoring of wildlife for both the educational programme & expert/volunteer recorders who will report on UK Biodiversity priority species. The creation of a safer pedestrian environment. The sensitive regeneration of this area will have an impact on the economic activity of the town – encouraging visitors to spend more time in & around the town with the expected knock-on effect on local businesses
