The aim is to create a biodiversity corridor which protects an area of ancient woodland and ensures the survival of the endangered species Sorbus Leyana and involves the communityThe Trust currently has a joint management agreement with Forest Enterprise on an SSSI 6(h), one of only two sites where the endangered species Sorbus Leyana is found. We have initially extended this to include an additional 16h of forest nature reserve and are in discussions to extend this by attaching additional commercial conifer forestry area to between 40 and 50h at the date of the application the area has been increased to 37(h) with further expansion possible at a future date in line with the forestry commissions management programme. We need your help to fund clearing replanting to create a biodiversity corridor, to instigate an ongoing survey and monitoring program and support the re colonisation of natural species; including fencing paths etc.
