Pennine Community Centre – Youth Scheme

Pennine Community Centre, previously a public house, was purchased by Bodmin Road Church in 2015. Phase one development created a large meeting room, café, internet drop in facility and a charity shop. The building now serves some of the most isolated and vulnerable people in the city including the elderly, lonely, people with learning difficulties, mental health issues and those facing financial problems. This project will refurbish the remaining section of the building, creating a dedicated youth and children’s facility from which it can deliver more and better clubs and groups without limiting and compromising the work already taking place in the building; a council-funded partner charity currently deliver clubs in existing rooms which has resulted in shared space being inadequate. This project will allow the applicant to repair and insulate an existing roof and carry out building work to create a new dedicated area for youth work, maximising capacity and improving delivery effectiveness.
