Projects / Pennybridge Community Sports Hall

Pennybridge Community Sports Hall

Penny Bridge is a thriving village school in a small Victorian building. It has been identified by Cumbria County Council in a recent suitability survey to be under sized by 45% and lacking in many necessary facilities. With this in mind, the group seek to mitigate problems caused by substandard accommodation, by improving the facilities which will invigorate the school and bring a range of new opportunities to the local community. The new sports hall will be available to the public for hire after school hours at weekends and during school holidays. The existing hall will be remodelled into two new rooms and will give the school some much needed space for classroom activities, staff planning and preparation and a library where children may more easily access reference materials to support their learning. The new hall will be attached to the rear of the school, extending a little into the playground (which is being extended to make allowances for this).
