Penrith Girl Guide Centre Refurbishment

Penrith Guide hut was built as a short-term establishment almost 50 years ago. It is now uneconomical to run, expensive to maintain and becoming increasingly unsafe. The asbestos sheeting in the room, the broken windows and guttering and the lack of disabled facilities are all areas for immediate concern.
The aim of this project is to refurbish and improve the current hut to provide a long-life, low maintenance, energy efficient building with a garden that will be available for the wider community to use.
It is hoped that as well as over 200 girls between the ages of 5 and 25 using the new facility, it will also encourage more groups to benefit from the ample space a newly refurbished centre will create.
