Perfect Ponds Restoration-Dothill Nature Reserve

This project will restore one of three ponds for biodiversity value. The Former Canal Section at Dothill Local Nature Reserve, Wellington is a long pond which formerly supported great crested newts but is now drying out and has poor water quality due to heaving shading, including trees growing in the water and a heavy load of leaf litter. The restoration of the northern section will remove trees to open up the water to sunlight, dredge and create hibernacula features for amphibians.
