Peterborough Indoor Tennis Court Project

The AELTC (Wimbledon) had 5 single court double-skin air domes which were used on a temporary basis while they constructed a new indoor tennis centre. One of these has been gifted to the applicants and the project aims to build an indoor tennis court utilising the used air dome. The works include building a new court, a concrete ring beam to anchor the dome to, backup generator (the air dome is inflated by an eclectic motor if there’s a power cut the dome will deflate and the structure is likely to be damaged) and for the installation of the dome. The funding would be used towards the construction of the court, ground works and concrete ring beam for the air dome.
The court will allow the applicants to increase the activities they currently provide by 50%. In addition, the new indoor court will allow the applicants to offer more inclusive tennis activities, which are generally best suited to the indoor courts.
