Phase 2 Development

The project will complete the second phase of the restoration of the amphitheatre and former bandstand area in Queen’s Park to create a modern multi-functional and sustainable performance space for use by community groups, educational and arts organisations.

The project will improve the historic Paxton-designed park environment by restoring a derelict area for community use. In addition to the durable terraced seating and improvements to draining in phase 1, this phase will complete the project by the construction of an innovative stage structure (with flexible roof and film screen) and improvements to the adjacent toilet block. The project will also include some management and associated overhead costs to develop and deliver the project and a start up programme of events leading to longer term sustainability of the Arena and greater use of the Park.
