Phase 2 External Fabric Repairs, St Giles Church

The first phase of the external repairs project was completed in February 2014 and involved repairs to masonry, roof and drainage to the south elevation which was supported by Heritage Lottery Fund/English Heritage Repair Grants for Places of Worship in England. This application is seeking support towards the second and final phase of our project which is directed at the repair of masonry, drainage and roof leadwork to the north, east and west elevations which was also identified in English Heritage’s report on the fabric in 2012, for the Phase I external repairs, to follow on from those works as a subsequent Phase of repairs. In addition other works to complete this phase include repairs to the internal stonework of the tracery and mullions of the stained glass windows, stone repairs to upper levels of the tower including cleaning and pigeon netting, repairs to steps and railings at three entrances to the building, a new north door and threshold drain.
