Pickering Beck Restoration

This community led project aims to create self sustaining populations of Brown Trout, Grayling and River Lamprey within the Pickering Beck and improve habitat for the nationally rare Duke of Burgurdy Butterfly (three of these are UK BAP priority species). It also aims to create suitable spawning habitat for Sea Tout and Atlantic Salmon (two more UK BAP priority species. The project will be delivered by local volunteers working alongside specialist contractors. These volunteers will learn new skills and be responsible for the long sustainability and management of the initiative.
