Picnic Park

In 2012 Baxenden community forum secured funding to restore the rose gardens and reinstate the fencing around the formal gardens at Haworth park.(this has been a huge community success) It was hoped that by improving the drainage in the Rose Garden area would improve the drainage in the adjacent amenity grass area. This has unfortunately not worked and this area remains unuseable for community events and recreation for at least 6 months of the year. The picnic park project aims to install new drainage in the amenity grass area adjacent to the Rose garden, form a grass stage from the resulting earth works. To create a dry community event space for outdoor concerts and community picnics, making it usable for most of the summer and autumn.
