Pineholt Bowls Club Solar Panels, Pineholt Bowls Club, Hucclecote, Gloucester

This is a project to install solar panels at Pineholt Bowls Club to reduce energy bills and the clubs carbon footprint.

The long-term benefits of installing solar panels will be the reduction in electricity bills, good for the planet, and enable the club to make financial savings to go towards running costs, green upkeep and other projects.

Pineholt BC was relocated to its current site 27 years ago when a new housing estate was developed in Hucclecote, and is attached to the Parish Council offices. Coopers Edge housing has now been developed, with Brockworth, Barnwood, and Abbeymead on the club’s doorstep. Apart from offering a summer sport to residents of all these areas, aiding community spirit, health and mental wellbeing, the club also runs a programme of events open to all, short mat bowls in close season, live music, quiz nights, race nights, bingo etc. The club has an incentive to open up to the community as the Parish Council gives the club a rent rebate for this. In 2024 the club far exceeded the number of events permitted, thus earning a substantial rebate and is on target to repeat this in 2025. The events are relatively cheap for the community with the added bonus of bar prices well below commercial establishments.
