Plock Court Wetland Creation, Gloucester City Council

This is a project to extend a wetland habitat to the north of Gloucester.

Plock Court is a large expanse of open space on the northern fringes of Gloucester. For many years it was the premier site for formal sport in the city. As flood events have become more common, it is clear that some areas of the site were no longer usable for sport. Ten years ago, a brave decision was made to create an area of wetland in the wettest corner of the site. This provided habitat and flood management benefits. While initially controversial, it has now become a truly loved asset, providing a biodiverse experience close to where people live. The proposal is to extend it, creating a much more significant wetland habitat.
