Polmont Woods pond habitat enhancement

Set in the Polmont Community Woodland, the Wildlife pond was originally used for settling the water supply for Grangemouth. Itr has been left derelict for many years and now supports a healthy freshwater habitat.

The Pond is to be surveyed in the spring of this year, and this will be used to guide the enhancement programme. It is envisioned that all rubbish will be removed (Shopping trolleys, old bikes etc), and some water horsetail and reeds will be removed to open up a larger area of free standing water. This will increase the ponds viability for a greater number of bird, amhibious, invertibrate and mamalian species to make use of the area, enhancing biodiversity
