Pond revonation and Permaculture Garden creation, Shiva Trust, Water, Rossendale

The aim of the project is to:

renovate a pond on the site to bring it back into conservation management and provide a seat area and nature study education resource.

create a permaculture garden to be used as a learning and education resource for the community.

The project is being run by the Shiva Trust charity who own and operate the site. They encourage the local community to participate in land based activities at the site and in particular engage BAME groups, refugee groups, schools groups, people with learning difficulties and mental health problems.

The Shiva Trust will create 3 PT jobs for 18-25yrs old to undertake the project works to give practical work experience and training in conservation and permaculture techniques.

The project site is crossed by two public rights of way one being the popular Rossendale Way which passes the pond location.
