Pooling Together – Reviving the Wetland Landscape

The main aim is to re-create the pond landscape across 850ha of North East Herefordshire to stimulate the conservation of the protected Great Crest Newt, other amphibians, reptiles and pond assemblage biodiversity.
19 ponds will be restored to provide a better connected wetland landscape..
Learning facilities will be built at one pond: a boardwalk, a pond dipping platform and a shelter for learning about wildlife.
Local volunteers will be trained in the skills to monitor the ponds’ wildlife and doin practical pond maintenance work.
To achieve greater public awareness of the ponds, a Pond Walk leaflet about the ponds will be made, two information boards provided, and an online database of information about the ponds, accessible using QR (Quick Response) technology.
