Port Sunlight Cricket Club, Bromborough - Solar Panels and Battery Installation (008226)

The project will establish a carbon neutral community building. The current building was constructed in 2020. The building was designed to have a low carbon footprint with high levels of insulation, efficient electrical heating/hot water. However, despite the buildings efficiency it still uses grid based electricity to power operations. The building is extensively used for a variety of community purposes including dog training, extra curricular school activities, dance classes, community group presentations/AGM/events, community social events e.g. Quiz's/Christenings, cricket, rugby, & football. The site uses 18,000kWh of electricity/annum resulting in a carbon footprint of 3,727kgCO2e. This project will make the site carbon neutral by installing 60 x 400watt solar panels and a 10.35kwh solar battery which will generate and store 20,425 kWh of renewable, green electricity. This will fully offset the carbon footprint the community activities leave, with a contingency for future growth in energy use.
