Practice Net Replacement, Enville Cricket Club, West Midlands

The current two-lane practice nets are in a deteriorated condition, leading to irregular and unpredictable bounce. This poses a safety risk, particularly when facing fast bowlers, and makes effective batting practice impossible. As the nets serve as a key coaching facility, it is essential that they provide consistent and safe bounce for all members, including youth, seniors, and the ladies’ team. The proposed new net structure will adhere to the latest ECB specifications, ensuring a high-quality practice environment.

The pavilion serves as the clubhouse for both the cricket and football sections, whose membership fees contribute to its maintenance. As there is no school or church hall in the village, the pavilion also functions as the village hall, providing a central space for community activities. The cricket club is actively expanding, forming a fourth Saturday team alongside the existing Sunday and midweek teams, as well as developing ladies’ softball and youth cricket starting from age five. Providing quality practice facilities is crucial to fostering participation across all age groups. For young players, the club offers opportunities for physical activity, skill development, teamwork, discipline, and social interaction.
