Preston Junction Access to Nature Project, Walton le Dale

The project is to make improvements to Preston Junction LNR to increase educational and volunteering opportunities for schools and the local community through habitat creation and enhancement as well as improved interpretation and access.
The project will:
a) improve access to the site through the formalisation of access points and creation of footpaths.
b) create pond habitats to allow natural colonisation by pond invertebrate and native plant species.
c) encourage the public and the local schools to engage with the site through a programme of activities.
d) help young and unemployed people and ex-offender to develop new skills through the implementation of works.
