Priority Habitats for Priority Species – Otmoor Flood Field

The project aims to increase the biodiversity value of 42ha of floodplain grazing marsh known as ‘Flood Field’ by improving existing water features, providing additional water features, such as islands, shallow pools and ditches, to benefit a wide range of wildlife including lapwings and redshanks, otter and water vole. The existing sward will be removed and a grassland area (20 ha) will be re-seeded with a locally sourced, native seed mix. The works will significantly increase the amount of shallow water creating 17.15km of suitable wet edge for feeding waterfowl compared the current area of 3.66km
