Priority Restoration of Insh Marshes Ecology (PRIME)

We will carry out improvements to the Floodplain Grazing Marsh on this important wetland reserve through a programme of vegetation management and control. This will include using contractors to top (cut) the coarse, rank vegetation to improve habitat quality for wading birds. A network of robust fencing will be installed to accomodate a grazing regime, that providies a sustainable method of managing this priority wetland habitat. Culverts and bridges will be installed to aid the movement of water on the reserve whilst enabling access to the wetland for staff and machinery.
This work will benefit Floodplain Grazing Marsh (UKBAP) habitat as well as lapwing, water vole and otter (all UKBAP species).
