Priory Meadow

Priory Meadow is an attractive meadow bordered by hedgerows on three sides with Priory Covert Wood and on the fourth side. The site helps maintain the rural feel of this part of the Colne Valley and it is the gateway to Denham Country Park and the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre from the direction of Denham. It is used as the parking field for the annual Colne Valley Festival and Denham Village Fayre. Between them, these events attract 5 – 10000 people.
The proposal is to install a robust vehicle barrier to narrow the width and height for access vehicles and to make the site boundary secure- eg installation of bollards. This will prevent the large scale fly tipping which this Meadow has endured recently. Habitat enhancements to sections of the hedgerows will also take place bringing them back into a more managed state and improving the quality of the habitat they offer to wildlife.
