PROJECT 3 The Repair, Maintenance and improvement to the fabric of Holy Trinity Church,

The carrying out of improvements to the church organ to make the pedals less sensitive to heavy
use. Installation of a memorial stone to Captain Sam Beattie VC, Captain of the HMS
Cambletown at the St Nazaire raid in 1942, who was born in Leighton. Sand blasting and
repainting main gates and railings at Church entrance. – Supplying and fitting stainless vented
screens in the tower, requiring expert Steeple Jacks, to prevent Birds from forcing nesting
material into the belfry and thus creating a fire risk. The felling of two dangerous pine trees on
the North East of the Church whose roots are damaging the paths and may also be causing
problems to the large storm drains from the concealed roof drainage system.
