Project Aquarius – Babcock Room

To provide a discrete space for community, educational and volunteer activities and to house temporary exhibitions, and a new gallery displaying the history of electrically powered pumping for water supply. The Babcock & Wilcox Boiler Room space will act as a venue for a range of mixed display, audio and sound material specifically created to achieve a range of important educational aims as part of the overall fixed interpretation being delivered under Project Aquarius. These will show the history of the Kew Bridge Waterworks site, how it and its later Museum collections fit into the wider story of the history of London’s water supply and how volunteers have played their part in building up and operating the collections
