Project Pilgrim Phase 1:New Cathedral Green

We aim to remove the car park and landscape the area outside Gloucester Cathedral to give the city a new public square. We also aim to improve the biodiversity of the area by planting native and disease/climate change resistant trees, enhancing and increasing the grassed area and installing a sustainable urban drainage system. We aim to make the area safer and more attractive for people to spend time outside the Cathedral and to encourage them to see it as a good place to meet and enjoy the area. New interpretation and signage will be introduced to help people to understand the Cathedral’s heritage and encourage them inside the building.
