Proliferating Ponds in the Peak III

A two year programme of pond enhancement, restoration and recreation works designed to contribute to and enhance existing pond clusters, and to benefit a range of species included Great Crested newt. The project will work on 35-40 sites on private land - all landowners have ongoing management agreements under agri-environment schemes or through agreements with the Peak District National Parks Authority The work will involve; 1.Clay and stone sett pond re-creation 2.Concrete pond re-creation using fibre glass lining 3.Pond restoration through de-silting and vegetation removal 4.Pond restoration through crack repair with a range of different sealants. The project will also include surveying the Great Crested Newt population. Work will be carried out by a project officer, specialist contractors and include some volunteer work in surveying and pond restoration.
