Protecting and restoring Bedfordshire's Heathland - The Lodge Nature Reserve

Restoration and management of newly acquired land to expand the heathland and successional woodland. Physical conservation work on the site includes felling of conifers and sycamore, humic layer removal, grazing with sheep and seeding with heather. Work will take place on three sites (Sandy Warren, The Lodge and Sandy Ridge), which are closely linked geographically and form fragmented parts of the original heathland.
